  KELLY'S KORNER

"The third chakra is a source of personal power and governs self-esteem, warrior energy, and the power of transformation."

This week, we continue our journey together in learning about the Chakras. If you're just now joining us, check out our previous emails where I gave an overview of our first and second chakras. In brief, a chakra is an invisible center of spinning energy through which we are able to receive and transmit social, sexual and spiritual energy. There are 7 chakra locations throughout the body and each chakra represents a spiritual life lesson or challenge to help us gain a more in-depth understanding of our personal and spiritual power. Over the next few weeks, I am providing a brief look into each chakra and crystals that can help to provide balance to those chakras. I highly recommend you dive deeper and use the following overview as a guide towards your research.

THIRD CHAKRA (MANIPURA & SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA)

  • Overview: The third chakra is the source of our personal power. When the third chakra is open, we have found our special gift, our inner sun. This chakra is related to our self-esteem, self-worth and is all about honoring ourselves and forming an intuitive voice from within.

  • Location: At the solar plexus (below the breastbone, behind the stomach) or navel

  • Characteristics

    • Balanced Energy: outgoing, has respect for self and others, cheerful

    • Excessive Energy: judgmental, sexually demanding, workaholic

    • Deficient Energy: depressed, poor digestion, jealous

  • Crystal Healing: Yellow stones are used for the third chakra. For healing, place a crystal of your choosing at the solar plexus or at the navel. Citrine is the stone that reminds us that we are the light and all the negativity in our mind is just a delusional illusion. It strengthens our will power, improves self-esteem and is useful for those who want an aid for digestion, free up breathing or break a habit. Happiness and joy are the messengers of citrine.

  • FOR THE COMMUNITY

  • THE HISTORY OF THE WOMEN'S CIRCLE

Throughout history, women have gathered in sacred circles. Be it around a fire in prehistoric times, within hushed monasteries of the Middle Ages, in consciousness-raising groups in 1990s living rooms or online groups in the digital age, women have congregated to laugh, share, heal, care for children, grieve, and spiritually connect in community. In such gatherings, women can experience a deep authenticity within themselves - a truth or "realness" that can often be lacking as we tend to our day-to-day lives and its multitudes of roles and responsibilities.

Women's circles operate on unique principles and values. Within the structure of the circle, there is no hierarchy; each woman's voice is equally important, her story honored and received fully. In this sacred space, a collective power is harnessed. When there is focused intent on healing - individually and collectively - magic happens. The support, creativity, and sharing of ideas that is fostered in women's circles has the power to translate into something much larger and more palpable. There is a ripple effect that positively impacts society at large.

    YONI CIRCLE INTRODUCES DIGITAL CIRCLES

Yoni Circle is a community that connects womxn more deeply to themselves and others through live storytelling circles around a prompt. They started as a Los Angeles in-person community in October 2018 with weekly events - their core being a storytelling circle.  With Yoni Circle's upcoming app launch, Yoni Circle is embarking on their next chapter - a new kind of social app that pioneers storytelling as a wellness tool. Founder, Chloe Drimal, was the 14th employee of Snapchat, where she was integral in the creation of the Our Story Product, and grew and managed a team of 80 employees that curated stories for the Snapchat community. Afrohaus Founder, Kelly Brett, has joined Yoni Circle as the Head of Salonnieres where she will cultivate and grow the Salonniere team. Salonnieres host and guide womxn through the storytelling circles in the app, while also being full participants in the community.

    MY EXPERIENCE

I had the privilege of experiencing my first Yoni Circle this week and it was absolutely incredible. From the moment I opened the app I was drawn in by the stunning aesthetics, and captivated by how you navigate into and through the circle within the app. Our circle consisted of six women from all around the world and we shared a beautifully honest, vulnerable and safe space to share our stories. I will most definitely be joining more circles and strongly encourage you all to do the same! -Debbie
